Should you Rent Tires?

Sometimes there's no denying it. Your flat tire is completely unrepairable. Other times, the need for new tires isn't so obvious. You might want to consider renting tires, however, if you notice any of the following.

Your tires are bald. Bald tires can be dangerous to drive on since they don't have a firm grip on the road. Your chance of getting a flat tire also increases. Tires are technically "bald" when one or more of their grooves reaches 2/32 of an inch deep. A new tire has 10/32 of an inch of tread.

Your tires are worn. Your tires don't have to be bald to be too worn to drive on safely. If you can put a penny head-first into your tire grooves and always see Lincoln's head, your tire treads aren't what they should be. It's time to replace your tires.

Your tires are old. When was the last time you replaced your tires? Tire rubber naturally wears out over time, regardless of how often you drive. Many vehicle manufacturers recommend that you replace your tires every six years. Check your owner's manual.

Your tires aren't right for the season. Tires are designed with specific vehicle types and seasons in mind. Everything from the rubber composition to the tread design changes to help you enjoy reliable handling on the road — rain or shine. If you recently moved or bought a new car, check that your tires match the climate you live in. You might need to rent winter tires if you live near the mountains, or all-season tires if your area is more temperate. Either way, Rent-A-Center has rent-to-own tires that match your vehicle, driving needs, and budget.
